Cindra Kamphoff, Ph.D. CMPC: “Beyond Grit: Embracing Passion and Persistence to Gain the High- Performance Edge.” In this session, Dr. Kamphoff will focus on the Top 10 Practices of the World’s Best. As leaders, we must be self-aware and master our thoughts, emotions, and actions to be resilient and lead our team effectively. Cindra will share proven and tangible strategies that could help even the most seasoned leader to overcome adversity, live with purpose and act gritty to help others be their best.
Marta Arch, RN: “I am still here” Understanding Alzheimer’s disease. In this hands-on session, participants will receive an overview of Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. They will also learn different methods of communication utilizing all the senses. Participants will explore the causes of challenging behaviors and receive strategies and problem-solving skills to deter aggressive and anxious behaviors that may be associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders. Finally, participants will leave with an understanding of the importance of their role in caring for residents with cognitive disorders.
Dr. Greg Kutcher, M.D. & SarahWard, Licsw, MSW: “Hospice 101: Hospice and End of Life Care.” In this session, participants will learn about and understand the relationship between Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice program and the long term care facility. Participants understand the services provided and the on-going care process for a hospice patient in the long term care facility.
Kristin Ziemke, MT- BC: “The Benefits of Music Therapy in Older Adults” In this session, participants will learn about the benefits of Music Therapy in older adults. In addition, participants will learn the skills needed to use music more effectively in Therapeutic Recreation movement and exercise group. They will also learn about the benefits of music in the end stages of life and how they can best facilitate this music experience.
