MORNING SESSION (9:30-11:30AM)

PRESENTER: Ann Holme, Regional Ombudsman for Long-Term Care, serving 10 counties.
Credentials: B.S. degree from South Dakota State University; additional coursework for Administrator licensing at Concordia College and Moorhead State University in social work, gerontology, gerontological nursing, health care systems and finances, and long-term care administration. Licensed MN nursing home administrator, and Certified Eden Alternative Associate.

AFTERNOON SESSION (12:30-2:30PM)

PRESENTER: Rick Loseth, LICSW. MA Counseling and Guidance; BA Sociology and Psychology
PACT for Families Collaborative; Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota-Clinical Operations Director

TOPIC: Professional Boundaries and Ethics:
Ethical standards are in place for a wide range of professions. This seminar looks at the challenges of applying those standards in the helping profession. The format includes an overview of professional role, introduction of an ethical decision making model, and application of the model to common challenges faced in a rural service delivery environment.

OBJECTIVES:
>Review differences between personal and professional boundaries
> Discuss dual relationships and implications for participants in their practice setting
> Overview and use of Ethical Decision Making* Model with case study examples
> Board of Social Work Standards – implication for practice
> Discussion of prevention strategies – review of key prevention strategies and application
